Rare has announced that the second major expansion of Sea of Thieves, Cursed Sails, will hit PC and Xbox One on July 31. The company has accompanied the announcement of a new trailer.
Cursed Sails will add substantial content to Rare’s pirate multiplayer. It highlights, for example, a new threat in the form of a ghost ship “similar to a fortress” whose crew are all skeletons, so that the ships we see will no longer be solely of other players. Judging by the trailer, it seems that it will emerge from the depths of the ocean in a random way, similar to the Kraken.
Cursed Sails also adds a third type of ship that joins the sloops and galleons. It is the brig, which is specifically designed to accommodate crews of up to three members. The update also includes a new alliance system that, according to Rare, “encourages the formation of fleets united under the same cause, prepared to undertake greater challenges and share the reward.”
The story of Cursed Sails, as shared by Rare, seems to revolve around merchants. “In Cursed Sails, a story of ambition and greed will come to light that has escalated into something really terrible,” you can read.
“Many of those who roam the sea for a long time will remember Salty, one of the first entrepreneurs to install a store in an outpost, and he has informed the Pirate Times that after many months looking for a” brutal “item to sell, he has found something really special that will surprise new and old customers, Salty even has a new business partner, but he is keeping the secrets until the time is right. ”
